Nancy Anson Blood Harmon, a longtime resident of Chatham, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on August 26.
Born on August 4,1931 in Newark, NJ, Nancy trained at Western Pennsylvania School of Nursing in Pittsburgh and began her career as an operating room nurse at Overlook Hospital in Summit. She later served as a staff nurse at a private practice in Short Hills, and at the Fair Oaks Hospital in Summit. Nancy went on to build a flourishing career as a respected and award-winning realtor. She was a member of the Summit Area Board of Realtors, as well as other local Boards of Realtors.
Nancy found true love in Robert Harmon, Sr., and they married in 1989. Together
they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and travels. Their home in Ocean Grove, NJ was a haven for family gatherings and joyful memories shared with loved ones and countless friends.
Nancy was a committed community volunteer. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Summit for more than 65 years and served there as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. She was the Chair and coordinator of the Y.W.C.A. Art Booth and Winter Market and served as a Brownie Scout troop leader. Nancy was a member of the Summit Child Care Center Board where she advocated for much needed child care services at a time when they were not widely available. She was a member of the Ocean Grove Women’s Auxiliary for more than 60 years and a volunteer with New Eyes for the Needy in Short Hills.
Nancy is survived by her loving family: her husband Robert Harmon, Sr., daughter Margaret Blood of Boston, MA, daughter Nancy Van Niel and her husband Jeff of Venice, FL, daughter Nina Koridek of Florham Park, NJ, granddaughter Riley Pickren Nemecz and her husband Jay Jay and great granddaughter Sadie of Wilmington, DE; grandson Robert Cooper Pickren of Alexandria, VA; granddaughter Katherine Koridek of Los Angeles, CA; and granddaughters Katherine and Rebecca Van Niel of Englewood, FL. She is also survived by her stepson Robert Harmon, Jr., his wife Lidia, and grandchildren Tomas and Nina Harmon.
