Nick J. D’Achille, of Springfield, passed away at Overlook Hospital in Summit on March 19, 2022. He was 86.
Born to Amicosante and Secondina D’Achille in Roccacinquemiglia, Abruzzo, Italy, Nick would travel with his father to the US beginning in his early teens. He settled permanently in Cleveland, OH in 1956, where he would meet his wife, Josephine and marry. In 1963, they came to Millburn and a short time later, moved to Springfield where they resided for the last 57 years.
Nick worked for Bell Labs in Murray Hill for 25 years, retiring in 1995 as a Stationary Engineer. He was also active with the Springfield Auxiliary Police, joining in 1992 and rose through the ranks to become Chief.
Beloved husband of Josephine for 63 years. He is the loving father of Michael of Springfield; Mary Chiera of New Providence; Martha Marra of Springfield; Nicholas of Newark, DE; and Lisa Kaufherr and her husband Lawrence of Springfield. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and predeceased by his grandson, Matthew Klein.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him
