Nila Kathryn Lefke

Nila K. Lefke, 90, of Whippany, NJ, peacefully passed away on September 18, 2018, in Newport News, VA, in the company of her family.

Born in Dover, NJ, Nila was the eldest daughter of the late William and Gladys (Taylor) Provost and the beloved wife of the late Rudolph “Rudy” Lefke. Nila proudly embraced her chosen roles of wife and homemaker and made her residence in Whippany since 1946. Nila also volunteered at All Souls Hospital in Morristown. She cherished caring for “her Rudy” during their many years of marriage, enjoyed making her grandmother’s recipes in the kitchen, and loved sending greeting cards to family and friends. Nila will be remembered for her dedication to her Rudy, her quick wit, and her feisty spirit.

Nila is survived by her two dear sisters, Norma Trosky (John) of Wharton, NJ, and Genevieve Weiss (Hank) of Plano, TX. Nila is also survived by her cherished niece, Patricia Dawne Rudalf and her husband, Robert, great niece Jennifer Lee Rudalf Gates (Mark), great nephew Matthew “Rudy” Rudalf, and great-great nephew Connor Matthew Gates, all of Yorktown, VA; niece Jamie Costa, nephew Michael Curry, great niece Kelsey Curry (and son), and great nephew Lane Curry. Nila was pre-deceased by her nephew, Randy Curry.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Nila’s memory may be made to the Hanover Township Police Benevolence Association Local #128 or the Cedar Knolls First Aid Squad. The family wishes to thank the compassionate caregivers at The Crossings in Yorktown, VA, and the stellar nurses of 5 West at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. A graveside service at Restland Memorial Park, 77 DeForest Avenue in East Hanover will be held on Monday, September 24th at 11am, where Nila will be laid to rest next to her Rudy.
