Norma Joyce Gibbs was born in Irvington General Hospital, New Jersey on July 24, 1926. She moved to Whippany in 1956. Her husband was Elmer F. Gibbs who passed away in December of 2012. She has two sons, Gary Gibbs and Gordon Gibbs (the late Kyrstyna). Three grandchildren, Adam Gibbs (Amy), Kristen Thornton (Ian), Bryan Gibbs (Megan) and step granddaughter Aly Murray. There are four great grandchildren, Autumn Gibbs, Tommy Gibbs, Evan Thornton, and Colin Thornton. She is survived by a sister, Carol Parks of Vineland, New Jersey, and a brother, George Davenport of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
In 1990 she retired from Trans World Radio as a Missionary Accountant. From 1968 to 1970 she served in the First Presbyterian Church of Whippany, as Director of Christian Education. Prior to that she worked for The First Presbyterian Church, Newark, NJ. She also worked for a number of volunteer services such as the Advisory Council of Morris County Extension Service, Registrar of the Morris County Presbytery School for Adult Education, Morris Museum, Dial -A-Ride and was a member of the Hanover Twp. Senior Citizens Club and acting treasurer. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Whippany for over 60 years
