Norman Rittweger, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, New Jersey to Peter and Bertha Rittweger on November 23, 1937, Norman grew up in North Arlington with his now deceased sister Judy. He graduated from North Arlington High School in 1956 and then enlisted in the Army Reserve.
Throughout his life, Norman cherished his passion for work as the sole proprietor of Norman’s Appliance Sales and Service. Always a fixture in his community, Norman ran the business as its sole proprietor for more than 65 years, and garnished a loyal and cherished customer base of more than 8,000 households in Northern New Jersey.
A devoted animal lover, he held a special place in his heart for his dogs, who brought him companionship and joy. Above all else, Norman loved his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Rose; his seven children, John, Jean, Michael, Joseph, Peter, Michelle, and Erin; his grandchildren, Nicole, Matthew, Shawn, Nick, Jaden, Kyle, and Alaina; his two great-grandchildren, Audrey and Axel, and his beloved dachshunds, Jerry and Zooey. His legacy lives on in each of them, and his love, humor, and strength will remain in their hearts.
Norman will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and will be remembered for his honesty, integrity and passion as a businessman and his deep love for his family and loved ones. His family is comforted knowing he is now at peace, and his memory will continue to bring them warmth and laughter as they honor his extraordinary life.
