Pasquale Antonio Spallone, 91, of Mendham and formerly of Millburn and Springfield, passed away on July 3, 2023. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., in Short Hills on Tuesday, July 11th at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave. in Springfield on Monday, July 10th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm.
Born and raised in San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Benevento, Italy, the son of Antonio and Rosina (Capobianco) Spallone, Pasquale was a skilled carpenter and cabinet maker and opened his first cabinet shop in his home town at the age of 15. Pasquale later spent 10 years in Venezuela where he opened another cabinet shop and then worked 2 more years in Switzerland, before moving to the United States in 1970. A parishioner at St. Rose of Lima, he was also a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 253 for 53 years. Pasquale enjoyed a good wine, singing and dancing, all types of music, especially opera, and watching soccer and boxing. He will be fondly remembered for his great love of life and his family.
Pasquale was the beloved husband of 54 years to the late Ida (DiIura) Spallone. He was the loving father of Rosanna Savino and her husband Joseph. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Joseph, John, Jake, Daniel, Angela and Brittney (Savino) Schultz, his sisters, Marie Louisa Spallone, Fiorella & Pietro Martucci, and Angelina (late husband Donato) D’Andrea, nephew Carmine Martucci, nephew Matteo & Anette D’Andrea, niece Gioconda Martucci & Vincenzo Sapia, niece Rosella Martucci & Andrea Turris, and cousin Louise and John Stecki.
