Patricia A. Behre

Patricia A. Behre, 90, Gettysburg, PA, and formerly of Chatham, NJ, passed away Saturday July 13, 2024 at SpiriTrust at Luther Ridge, Chambersburg, PA.  She was born June 5, 1934 in Orange, NJ the daughter of the late Frederick and Anna Meldrum Quinn. Patricia’s husband, Charles Behre died in 2015.

Mrs. Behre was a 1952 graduate of Chatham High School in NJ and was a proud Eskie. She then went on to Bucknell University, where she graduated in 1956. Following college, she was a homemaker busy raising her family.

Pat and her husband moved to Gettysburg in 1979, where she made life-long friends. She was employed at Gettysburg College for many years retiring in 1997.

She was a member of Gettysburg Presbyterian Church. She also belonged to numerous bridge and knitting clubs in the area. She loved to attend concerts put on by Gettysburg Community Concert Association most recently attending one last month.

Mrs. Behre is survived by two sons; Douglas Behre and his wife Lauren of Sea Girt, NJ, Jon Behre of Point Pleasant, NJ, a daughter, Jennifer Knouse and her husband Jay of Gettysburg, PA, six grandchildren; Justin Behre, Christopher Behre, Haley Behre, Jack Behre, Kyle Knouse, Wade Knouse, a great granddaughter, Layla Behre, as well as step-grandchildren Jed Knouse, Jackie Knouse and step-great-granddaughters Janiah and Jakiah Knouse. In her later years, she was fortunate to meet Jerry Heeschen through church who became her constant companion. Along with her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by her daughter in law Trish Mahoney.

Pat traveled extensively across the US and abroad. She loved spending her time reading, knitting, watching the Phillies play and creating beautiful cross stitch art. Having grown up spending her summers at the Jersey shore, being in the ocean brought her great joy. She loved her family and took great pride in all her grandchildren and looked forward to any time spent with them.

She will forever be remembered for her love of music, the color red and anything chocolate.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
