~~Patricia Phillips-Morgan “Patsy”, 71, of Newark passed away on March 21, 2017. Visiting hours will be held at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave in Springfield on Tuesday, March 28th from 3 to 7pm. Interment is private. Born and raised in Mahaicony, Guyana, the daughter of Eric M. Phillips and Emily Rutherford, Patsy came to the United States in 1971. First settling in Brooklyn, she also lived in Maplewood and South Orange before moving to Newark in 2002. Patsy was an administrative assistant with Nynex (now Verizon) for 33 years until her retirement in 2009. She enjoyed playing dominos and watching soap operas. Patsy loved Junior’s Restaurant and Bakery in Brooklyn as well as a wide array of musicians including Beres Hammond, Freddie McGregor, Johnny Mathis, Hall and Oats, Jodeci, Celine Deione, and Max Priest to name a few, but most of all she loved cooking, especially Pepper-pot, roti and chow mein.

Patsy is survived by her husband Steve Morgan and her son Edwin Artis and his wife Tameica Robinson-Artis as well as many loving relatives both here and in Guyana
