Paul Prinz of Irvington died at Overlook Hospital on Sunday, January 20, 2013. He was 82. Born in Dorenweid Germany he came to the US when he was 24, spending over 50 years in Irvington.
Paul is survived by his wife of 57 years, Walli (Fackler); children, Inge Prinz and her husband Ali Celik of Clifton, Ursula and her husband Michael Stigliano of Springfield, Sonya and her husband Rodger Pannucci of Springfield and grandchildren, Matthew, Kathryn, and Michael. He is also survived by his sister Ursula Dedler of Germany.
“Pop” was more than just handy. He could do just about anything including cabinetry, electrical work, plumbing, model making and made many unique whirligigs. He was a service technician in the oil heating industry working for Sickley Brothers in South Orange for 35 years and later Petro in South Plainfield, retiring in 2010 at close to 80 years of age. He also served in the US Army during the Korean conflict from 1955 to 1957.
