Persis Luke Loveys, 81, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 6th surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 29, 1932 in Mechanicville, NY. After the sudden loss of her father, her family relocated to Brattleboro, Vermont and she graduated from Brattleboro High School in 1949.

She was elected “May Queen” at Wheelock College in Boston, MA where she graduated with a degree in education in 1954.

On July 17, 1954 she married Ralph A. Loveys. They settled in Simsbury, CT where she taught kindergarten at the Tootin’ Hills School.

In 1956 they moved to Florham Park, New Jersey to start a family. She was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church for the past 57 years. Persis was a member of ‘The Florhamaires’, an all female singing group and performed locally for 29 years. She was also a founder of the Calvary Nursery School where she served as the treasurer and secretary for several years.

Persis was an avid gardener and was extremely proud of her New England heritage. She loved Vermont where she vacationed each summer of her entire life.

The greatest love of her life was her very close family – her husband, her children and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ralph A.; her six children, Ralph Jr. of Basking Ridge, NJ, Jim and his wife Karen of Randolph, NJ, Alice (Lollie) Beisser and her husband Paul of Berkeley Heights, NJ, Luke and his wife Karen of Pittsford, NY, David of Flemington, NJ, and Jessica Cox and her husband Dan of Florham Park; her 18 loving grandchildren; two of her three brothers, Jim Luke of Wayne, NJ and Bob Luke of Florham Park; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
