Peter Dapas
04/12/1924 - 07/05/2021

Peter was born on April 12, 1924 in Rovigno, Italy to his parents Luigi and Teresa. He had one sister, Flora (predeceased), and a brother, Francesco who passed away serving in World War 2.

He came to this country in 1940, and lived in the Pacific Northwest, where he had worked in the U.S. Forest Service, and for the Northern Pacific Railway. He married Angelina Minervini in 1946, and settled in her hometown of Hoboken, N.J. He and Angelina had 3 children, twins Linda and Karen, and Dr. Frances Dapas. He is also survived by Frances’s husband, Dr. Allen Traficante.

He worked as a New Jersey longshoreman all his life, and eventually retired in 1987, spending many happy summers at the Jersey Shore. He always made time for his beloved artwork, and created many beautiful oil and watercolor paintings, plus lovely wooden sculptures. He was highly intelligent, loved to read, and to keep up with current events. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, and loved to be out in nature. In his later years, he liked cooking for his family, and spending time with all of us.

We will remember his good nature, warm hugs, wicked sense of humor and great smile. He was always there for us, rain or shine, and we will love and miss him forever.
