Philip H. Montalto

Philip H. Montalto, 87, of Union, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at his home.

Phil was born on May 19, 1928 in Newark, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Emma (nee Timpanaro) Montalto.

Phil was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church, Union, NJ. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #1583. He was an avid golfer and hobbyist. He was very family oriented and loved spending time with his cherished children and grandchildren. Phil was most proud of his service in the 25th Infantry Division, 27th Infantry Regiment, Company E, The Wolfhound Pack, of the United States Army during the occupation of Japan in World War II. Phil was employed at Reliance Equipment Company in Linden, NJ as a sales representative before retiring in 2005.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Florence Montalto. He was the father of a daughter, Carol Niedziocha and her husband Chris, and a son, Philip Montalto and his wife Karen. He was the treasured grandfather of four grandchildren; Major Chris Niedziocha, USMC and his wife Stacy, Daniel Niedziocha and his wife Laura, Gina and Matthew Montalto and one great-granddaughter, Catherine Niedziocha. He was also survived by his brother, Barry Montalto. He was predeceased by his siblings; Vito, Anthony and Joseph Montalto.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave., Union, NJ 07083. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:15 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at St. Michael’s Church, 1212 Kelly Street, Union, NJ 07083. An interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Philip’s name may be directed to St. Jude Children’s’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
