Ralph J. Scarola, a long-time Union resident, passed away at his home on October 11, 2020. He was 95.
Born in Newark to the late Stella and Michael Scarola, Ralph was raised in Newark as well and was a graduate of Barringer High School. Immediately following graduation, he was drafted into the US Navy. He proudly served on the USS Guadalcanal (CVE-60) escort carrier in the Atlantic Theater during WWII. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked his entire career in the carpet distribution industry, retiring in 1990 from Apollo Distributing in Fairfield. In 1958, Ralph married Marilyn Federico and moved to Union in 1964 to raise their family. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling. He was an avid, life-long fan of the Giants, Yankees and Knicks.
Ralph leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Marilyn. His is also survived by his devoted sons, Mike and his wife Gail and Ralph and his wife Laura; his loving brother, Rocco; and his cherished 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
