Raymond E. Alley

Raymond E. Alley, 90, of Summit and formerly of Madison, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Raymond was born on September 24, 1927 in Madison, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Eva (nee Ayers) Alley. He was a 1946 graduate of Johnathan Dayton High School, Springfield, NJ, where he was a track star.

Raymond served in the United States Army under General Douglas MacArthur during World War II. He later graduated from Drakes Business School, Elizabeth, NJ and worked as an internal auditor of Chubb Insurance, Short Hills, NJ.

In his spare time he was an avid runner and enjoyed fishing. Raymond loved spending time outdoors and traveling with his beloved wife all over the world. He liked spending time in New York City and vacationing with his family in Cape May, NJ. Above all, he was a family man, a devoted husband, father, and cherished grandfather.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 70 years, June B. Alley. He was the loving father of Bevinn Herrmann, Blair Alley and Bean Chambers. He was the grandfather of Jeffery, Jeremy, Jennifer, Stacey, Courtney, Joshua, Tyler and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Ashley.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bradley, Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 299 Morris Avenue, Summit, NJ. A prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Raymond’s name to Renaissance Church/Ren cares fund, 2 Kent Place Blvd., Summit, NJ.
