Regina Barbara Rehill, a long-time Chatham resident, passed away at Crane’s Mill Nursing Center in West Caldwell on December 2, 2022. She was 98.
Born in Jersey City New Jersey to Sarah and Walter Bender, Regina grew up in Jersey City where she attended high school.
Regina worked in the mercantile industry in New York City for years. She was a remarkable seamstress, creating many of her own clothes and furnishings, and would often bring home samples for her nieces.
She also worked at Constructioneer, Inc. magazine in Chatham as their office manager in the 1980’s.
A member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Chatham, Regina was very active with charitable volunteer activities.
She enjoyed travel, singing and bridge, and lived a very full life. With her husband Terry, she was a member of the Chatham Fish and Game Club, and spent many summers in Spring Lake, NJ.
Late in life Regina took up painting, and displayed an uncommon talent for this hobby.
Regina was the beloved wife of the late Terence Rehill. She was predeceased by her brother, John W. Bender and his wife, Jeanne, and is survived by her niece, Joann Greenwood and her husband Kenneth, and their daughters, Elizabeth and Jillian; by her nephew, Don Rehill, his wife, Apolonia and children, Keegan, Julia and Genevieve; niece, Sue Caffrey and her husband, Robert and sons, Jack and Sam; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Rehill, as well as a number of other nieces and nephews.
