Richard A. Laguna, a life-long resident of Union, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on August 7, 2023. He was 86.
Born in Union to the late Eugenia and Adam Laguna, he was a 1954 graduate of Union High School. He attended Ithaca College in New York on a basketball scholarship and served in the US Army. Richard worked for American Greetings in sales for 30 years.
An avid golfer, he also played paddleball for many years. Richard was known for his beautiful blue eyes and he loved spending time in his garden.
He was the beloved husband for 60 years of Barbara (nee Allan); loving father of Lawrence Laguna of Westfield, Cathy Jakositz of Mountainside, Lori Hodge of Doylestown, PA, and Theresa Lozano of Ft. Pierce, FL. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Richard Lozano, Samantha Hodge, Taylor Alen, Thomas Jakositz, Gavin Jakositz, Jessica Laguna, Casey Laguna, and Alex Laguna and his great-granddaughter Addison Alen.
