Richard M. Seely, 95, of Chatham, NJ passed away at home on May 28, 2023. Born in Englewood, NJ and raised in Haworth, he graduated from Dumont High School and became a technical sergeant in the US Army in World War II. Later he attended the agricultural program at Cornell University. However, with his love of interior design and his quick wit and charm, he became an award-winning furniture salesman at Huffman Koos.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Helen Seely, and his two older brothers, Fred and Jack Seely.
Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan Seely, their daughter Laura, son-in-law Brett Pollack, and three grandchildren. Richard cherished his family. He took great pride in his 50 year marriage and delighted in the accomplishments of his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
Richard was known for his impeccable manners, his sense of humor and his thoughtfulness. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and was quick to offer a drink and a smile to anyone who walked through the door. His legacy will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Graveside services will be held at George Washington Memorial Park on Friday, June 16th at 10:30am.
