Plan for the Future
Rita Chamberlin, aka “The Aunt”, of Spring Lake passed away peacefully on May 9th at the age of 92.
She was born at home in Irvington, NJ to Max and Christel Dettling, and grew up in Verona.
Rita worked for over 30 years as an Executive Secretary at Schering- Plough in Kenilworth NJ and was the definition of being organized.
She married her loving, handsome, and fun husband Donald later in life and enjoyed 25 years of happiness together until his passing. It all started with Rita having a flat tire in Belmar, NJ. Donald stopped and changed the tire it was love at first sight. When asked about it, she would always chuckle and say, “Yeah, I did pretty good”.
She and Donald enjoyed many trips to St Croix. They enjoyed life in Spring Lake and dancing at The Shoreham, The Essex & Sussex, and The Yankee Clipper.
All who knew her will always remember her contagious wonderful laugh, especially the neighbors when her windows were open. A private service will be held on May 15th at Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, Union, NJ
