~~Robert Austin Schwarz “Bob”, 71, of Chatham Township passed away on November 29, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Patrick Church, 85 Washington Ave in Chatham, on Saturday, December 3rd at 10:00am. Interment will follow at St. Teresa Cemetery. Born in Newark, the son of Louis K. Schwarz Jr. and Betty, Bob was raised in South Orange and Short Hills. After marrying his wife Dorothy he resided in Irvington and New Providence before moving to Chatham in 1978. A member of Sigma Pi, Bob received his Bachelor’s degree from Lycoming College in 1967 and his MBA from Seton Hall University in 1970. He was a First Vice President, Sr. Consultant and Porfolio Manager with Merrill Lynch in Newark from 1984 through present. A third generation Rotarian, Bob was a member of the Newark Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member and past treasurer of the Newark Jaycees, a member of the ELKS in Summit and Key Largo, and the Ironbound Business and Professional Association. Bob was a world traveler and loved playing chess and golf. He also enjoyed tennis and politics.
Bob was the beloved husband of Dorothy. He was the loving father of Robert A Schwarz Jr and his spouse Carlos Bustamante, John R. Schwarz, and James A Schwarz and his spouse Suzanne. He is also survived by his granddaughters; Sabrina, Keira and Juliette, his sister Kathleen Burdorf and his brother Louis K. Schwarz, III and his spouse Vicki.
