Robert “Bob” Langford, a resident of Morris Township, and longtime resident of Chatham, passed away at Care One, Morristown on Monday, August 19, 2024.  He was 85 years old.

Born in New York City, Bob graduated from Chatham High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickenson University, Madison, NJ.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 through 1964.  He then had a career in advertising sales with Gordon Publishing in Randolph, NJ.

Bob remained an active supporter of Chatham High School, serving on the steering committees for the Great Reunions (1997 & 2008) and for the 1956 Class Reunion.  One of his proudest moments during high school was posting a school record, 577 batting average, for the Chatham baseball team.

He was a past Commander of the Morris County American Legion and a volunteer for the American Red Cross.  Bob had a passionate interest in the Civil War and was a member of The Lincoln Group of NY as well as four other Civil War/Lincoln clubs.  He enjoyed golf and was an avid fan of the NY Giants, NY Rangers, and NY Yankees.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jeanne Pamplin Langford, with whom he reconnected at their 20th Chatham High School reunion.  Bob is also survived by his beloved children Donna Langford, Susan Langford, and beloved stepchildren Michael Hiley, Raymond Hiley, Richard Hiley, Jeffery Hiley, Heather Scott,11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
