Robert “Bob” Norwood Proud Scottish American devoted to his family and friends Robert “Bob” Norwood, 80, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2015. Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, Bob proudly served 2 years in the Scottish Army with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regiment. He married Phyllis (nee: Martin), and moved to the United States in 1958, settling in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. After living in Copiague, Long Island for a time, they moved to New Jersey, where they lived in Fanwood, Scotch Plains and Edison before settling in Somerset 9 years ago. Within one week of arriving in the United States, Bob got a job as a printer with the Economy Color Card Company, where he dedicated the next 36 years, ultimately reaching the position of Partner. In 1997, he started MacSample, LLC, in Clark, New Jersey. A lover of golf, Bob was a 25 year member of the Metuchen Golf and Country Club. He was a member of the St. Andrews Society in New York, and in his younger years, he was a bagpiper with the Amityville American Legion Highland Pipe Band, with his brother. Bob was also proud to have danced before the Queen in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 1956. Predeceased by his parents George and Martha, and brother Alex; Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Phyllis; loving children Gary and his wife Janice, Amy Wickenheisser and her husband Bill, and Beth Turner and her husband Rob; and cherished grandchildren, Kyle, Evan and Amanda. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd., Whippany, NJ. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 10:00am, and a Service will begin at 12:00 noon Cremation will be private.
