Robert Brendon Murphy, 85, of Chatham, NJ, passed away on December 25, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 85 Washington Ave. in Chatham on Saturday, December 29th at 10:00am. Interment is private. Born and raised in Quincy, MA, the son of Michael and Madeline (Reithmeier) Murphy, Robert graduated from Quincy High School in 1951. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. Robert was an aircraft mechanic and crew chief for American Airlines. He retired in 1996 after 39 years of service.
Robert was the beloved husband of the late LaVerne Kelly Murphy. He was the loving father of Barbara Moticha and her husband Mark, and Michael Murphy and his wife Nancy. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, David Moticha and his wife Sonia, Megan Anepete and her husband Vincent, Katherine Murphy, Brendan Murphy, Bridget Murphy, and Ceara Murphy, great grandchildren, Jordan Moticha and Michela Moticha, brother, Michael Murphy and sister, Sheila Kingston. In lieu of flowers and in consideration of his fondness for animals, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ.
