~~Robert Damore of Manahawkin, passed away on February 14, 2017 at South Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin. He was 85.
Robert lived in Union, Iselin and Hillside, before moving to Manahawkin 18 years ago. He served in the US Army from 1950 to 1954 in Germany during the Korean War. Bob worked for Barone Construction for many years before retiring in 1999.
He was a member and an usher at Christ the King Church in Hillside and St. Mary’s Church in Manahawkin. He was also a member of the Hillside American Legion.
When he wasn’t tending his garden, Bob could be found at the blackjack tables or at the race track. He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally. He always loved hosting barbecues in his backyard with family and friends. His favorite past time after retiring was taking his dog Rocky for a “ride in the truck”.
He was the beloved husband for 26 years of Carol (nee Lester) Damore. He was the loving father of Elizabeth Bussiculo and her husband John, Carolyn Fritz and her husband Harold and Susan Damore. He was the devoted grandfather of his grandchildren John, Daniel Bryan, Rebecca, Lisa and Rachel and his step- grandchildren: Thomas, Brittany and Taylor. He was predeceased by his first wife of 29 years Antoinette (nee Fandetta).
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 767 Prospect St., Maplewood on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 9:30 am. Friends may call at the Bradley, Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 299 Morris Ave., Summit, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
