         Robert M. Cahill Sr.

Robert M. Cahill Sr., 94, of Summit, NJ, passed peacefully on March 16, 2022. Born in Rahway, NJ, Robert lived in Summit for forty-five years. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948 and served proudly on the U.S.S. Midway. Robert is pre-deceased by his wife of twenty-seven years, Jessie Ann Cahill (Leahy) and his daughter, Patricia Ann Cahill. He is survived by his three children, Robert M. Cahill Jr. (Mary Beth), Thomas F. Cahill (Annemarie) and Kathleen Conover (Joel), grandfather of Garrett, Donovan, Kevin, Samuel, Daniel, Catherine, and Mary Kate.

Robert attended St. Peter’s High School in New Brunswick, NJ and graduated with a B.S. in economics from Mount Saint Mary’s College, Emmitsburg, MD in 1952.

He was in the automobile business for his entire working life. He was a Dodge dealer is Summit, NJ for many years and was the owner of Leader Buick in Bayonne, NJ from 1980 to 2000. He was a former President of the Union County Automobile Dealers Association and a former trustee of the New Jersey Automobile Dealers Association.

He was a longtime member of Baltusrol Golf Club and the Summit Elks Club and was a parishioner at St. Teresa’s Church in Summit, NJ.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 9:30 am at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Summit. Interment will be at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia. Visiting hours Sunday, 2 pm to 6 pm at the Bradley Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 299 Morris Ave. Summit. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s name may be made to: Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad.
