Roman Marusyn, 89, of Morris Plains, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
Roman was born on June 6, 1927 in Kniazy, Ukraine. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Katarina (nee Matweschen) Marusyn.
Roman was a parishioner on St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Whippany, NJ and St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, North Port, FL. He liked to volunteer with both churches. He was an avid gardener and can grow just about anything. He worked as a painter for Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceuticals and was a volunteer firefighter for the company as well.
Roman is survived by his beloved wife, Lydia Marusyn. He was the father of three daughters; Vera Shashkewych and her husband Bohdan, Geraldine Beyer and her husband Dennis, and Halena Yasko and her husband Scott. He was the cherished grandfather of Laryssa, Matthew, Alexa, Kaitlyn, Nikolas, Kyle and Kristina.
A visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Parastas at 8:00 p.m. at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Road, Whippany, NJ 07981. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 60 North Jefferson Rd, Whippany, NJ. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in his name to the Building Fund of St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church, 60 North Jefferson Road, Whippany, NJ 07981.
