Rudolf J. Buono (“Rudy”) of Chatham, NJ passed away at Morristown Medical Center on October 15, 2014. He was 82. Rudy was born on May 27, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY where he resided until moving to Chatham, NJ in 2006. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal. He was a past long-time President of American Legion Post 159 (Brooklyn, NY) and was awarded Lifetime status in recognition of his service. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Forum Club in Madison NJ. He began his vocational career in the Printing Industry as a Typographer where he worked for over 30 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Angelina, his five daughters and their families. He loved the Jersey Shore and Montauk, watching sunsets, Italian food and friendly games of poker. Rudy had a deep devotion to St. Joseph and faithfully started each day with the Prayer of St. Joseph.

Rudy was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Virginia Buono, his brothers Salvatore, James and Thomas Buono and his daughter Joanne Konecny. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Angelina Buono (nee Genovese), his sister Rose Demaio, his uncle John Gaita, and his daughters and son-in-laws: Paul Konecny of Freehold, NJ, Mary Zingone (Louis) of Chatham, NJ, Antoinette Walsh (Thomas) of Chatham, NJ, Barbara Stanton (Matthew) of Mendham, NJ and Doreen Peritore (Marcello) of New Providence, NJ. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Christopher Konecny (Sara) and Michele Cutts (Stephen), Dan (Angela), Paul and Michael Zingone, Liam and Thomas Walsh, Matthew, Shane and Maggie Stanton, and Andrew, David and Daniel Peritore, and two great-grandchildren, James Zingone and Jake Blade.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 20, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick Church, 45 Chatham St., Chatham, NJ. Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday October 19th from 3-9pm at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home on 345 Main Street in Chatham, NJ.
