Russell M. Smith of New Providence, NJ passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. A memorial service will be held at Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, NJ in January.
Mr. Smith was born in Queens, New York, resided in Summit, NJ since 1966 and later at Lantern Hill in New Providence.
He was a graduate of Dartmouth College and The Amos Tuck School of Business Administration. His naval service was as an Executive Officer aboard the U.S.S. Nahant. Mr. Smith served as an investment advisor for 40 years at Mellon Bank, Lehman Brothers, Chase Manhattan Bank and Republic National Bank. He was an elder, deacon and auditor for Central Presbyterian Church. He participated in the Old Guard of Summit and served as an officer of the Summit Taxpayers Association, Summit Junior Baseball and the YMCA Indian Guides. In retirement he performed consulting work for the National Executive Service Corp.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Nancy Ross Smith; and his sons, Ross Smith of Chatham Township and Craig Smith and his wife Sara of Carlisle, MA. He adored his two grandchildren Ian and Skylar Smith.
