Salvatore Gibaldi, Jr, “Sal”, 89, of Springfield and Toms River passed away at Manor by the Sea in Ocean Grove on June 14th. Visitation at Bradley Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave. in Springfield will be on Tuesday, June 18th from 1 to 3pm followed by a Prayer Service at 3pm. Interment is private.
Born in Hoboken and raised in upstate New York, Sal had also lived in Jersey City prior to moving to Springfield in 1978. He moved to Toms River in 2005. Sal served in the United States Army during WWII as a member of the 560th Quartermaster Railhead Company. He was an Electrical Technician for 37 years with Western Electric in Kearny. Sal was a member of the St. Paul’s Church Boy Scouts in Jersey City, St. James the Apostle Church, and the V.F.W. of Springfield. Sal will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his colorful stories, his love of history, and his devotion to his family. .
Sal was the beloved husband of the late Rose (Gincel). He was the loving father of Linda Pickett, Beth Zamara, and the late Alan Gibaldi. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Vincent, Amy, Kaitlin, Dominic, Giovanni, and Nicholas, great grandson Matthew, as well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sal’s memory may be made to the Deborah Hospital Foundation
