Sandra (Mele) Policarpio of Chatham, NJ, formerly of Millburn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at the age of 72 surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised in Summit, she graduated from Summit High School in 1966.  She then attended Wilfred Academy in Newark, graduating in 1967.  Sandy was a beautician for over 20 years, first working for her brother’s salon in Morristown, and later for several salons in Millburn, where she and her family lived for 40 years.  Sandy decided to change careers and accepted a position at Overlook Medical Center. She was hired by Atlantic Health System at Overlook Hospital and was a medical office associate for over 25 years with Chatham Family Practice, retiring in 2020.

Sandy’s biggest joy was being Nana to her 6 grandchildren.  She attended every game, practice, play and concert she could.  She also was an avid Yankees and Giants fan, never missing a game.

She was the beloved wife to Julio for 52 years.  Loving mother of Jeffrey M. Policarpio and his wife Cara of New Providence and Julie A. Tornatore and her husband Jeremy of Springfield.  Devoted Nana to Marissa Policarpio, Jem Tornatore, Jeffrey Policarpio, Jr., Jack Tornatore, Grace Policarpio and Theresa Policarpio.  Cherished sister of JoAnn Carbone and her husband Tony of Manahawkin and Dolores Piero and her husband Lou “Babe” of Lake Worth, Florida.  Sister-in-law of Phyllis Mele of Berkeley Heights and her late husband David and Joanne DiLauri and her husband David of Barnagat.  Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
