Shirley B. Gilbert, 91 of Windsor, Connecticut, formerly of Springfield, New Jersey, died on January 26, 2019. Born in Newark on March 1, 1927 to Robert and Bessie Fritzinger, Shirley graduated from East Side High School in Newark. In 1950 she married Frank Moore Gilbert and they settled in Springfield, where she lived until moving to Windsor, CT 6 years ago. Shirley worked as branch stenographer at the Fidelity Union Trust Company in Newark, and as secretary for the Hoffman Beverage Company in Newark and the Old First Church in Newark, where she was also a parishioner, a deacon, Sunday School teacher and participant in Camp Dennis and Camp Rose Martin. Shirley was also a member of The Couples Club, The Women’s Club and the Springfield Seniors Club.

Predeceased by her husband Frank; Shirley is survived by her son Robert Gilbert and his wife Eileen of Windsor, CT; granddaughters Brianne Gilbert, Faith Burns and her husband Evan and Christianna Gilbert; cousins Carol Laufer and husband Barry, of North Carolina and Linda Laukaitis and husband Robert, of Cranford, NJ; and her special childhood friend, Laverne Biunno.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 11a.m. until 12p.m. at the Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue in Springfield.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 12p.m. at the Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue in Springfield.

Committal:
Interment will take place at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, New Jersey.
