~~Stefan Butka, 93, of Elizabeth, NJ passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. Born in Czechoslovakia, Stefan came to the United States in 1951, where he soon met and married Maria Mueller. Stefan worked for the American Can Company in Hillside for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and at the family’s Christmas Tree Farm in Glen Gardner.
Stefan was predeceased by his parents, Josef and Anna, and his beloved wife Maria of over 60 years. He is survived by children Rosemary Butka and her husband Peter Hierl of Union; Steven Butka of Elizabeth; David Butka and his wife Diane of Cranford; grandchildren Julia Butka, Sarah Butka and Brian Butka of Cranford, and his beloved cat, Peanut Butter and grandcats Fred and Suzi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 10AM at St. Genevieve’s Church, 200 Monmouth Rd., Elizabeth. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. There will be a visitation on Sunday from 2-6PM at the Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union.
