Stephen (“Steve”) Mandzak, 97, of Chatham, NJ and formerly of Union passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at his home.

Stephen was born on August 20, 1917 in Bayonne, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George and Maria (nee Čorny) Mandzak.

Stephen worked for Jersey City Welding in Jersey City until retirement. After retirement he worked as a crossing guard at the Franklin School in Union. He was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Paulus Hook Council in Jersey City and Union Assembly 0666. He was a parishioner of Saint Michael’s in Union, and more recently a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church in Chatham. Stephen was an avid gardener and master crabber who loved spending time outdoors.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Eileen Core and husband Vincent. He was the cherished grandfather of Lisa Core and her husband David Reynolds and the great-grandfather of Wyatt and Sawyer Reynolds. He was predeceased by his siblings: Andrew, John, George, and Margaret.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Chatham, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd., Chatham, NJ. An interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
