Thomas Martin Keegan

Thomas Martin Keegan, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and longtime resident of New Providence, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 with his family by his side. He was 77 years old.

Tom was born in 1937 in Scranton, PA to Michael and Mary Keegan. He grew up in Newark, NJ, graduating from Barringer High School and then Seton Hall University, where he received a B.A. in Business. Tom served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. He started his career at Peat Marwick, then moved on to help lead the Howard Savings Bank, and retired as a Director from the New York Stock Exchange in 2005.

Tom married the love of his life, Patricia, in 1966. They raised their four children in New Providence. Tom was a true family man, and spent a lot of time with his children and grandchildren. coaching or cheering them on at their sports, performances, and activities. He was curious, loved learning and talking politics, was an excellent singer, and was a tinkerer who could fix almost anything. You could always tell when he was nearby by listening for his happy whistle. After retirement, he and Pat traveled the world.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Pat Keegan of New Providence; his brother, Bill (Pat) of Manahawkin; his sister-in-law, Helen; his four children: Andrew (Laura) of Sarasota, FL, Thomas (Tracy) of Summit, Tricia (Firas) of Arlington Heights, IL, and Mark (Kazu) of San Francisco, CA; and eight grandchildren: Parker, Grace, Chloe, Katie, Sara, Maeve, Noah, and Jena. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Jack and his sister, Betty.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 23rd from 5-7 pm at Wm. Bradley and Son, 345 Main Street, Chatham Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 24th 9:00 am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South Street, New Providence. An interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Tom’s name to the National PKU Alliance (NPKUA), P.O. Box 501, Tomahawk, WI 54487.
