Thomas P. De Feo

Thomas P.(Gaetano) De Feo, 93, of Cedar Knolls and East Hanover, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Morristown Memorial Hospital.


Born and raised in the Little Italy section of lower Manhattan, NY, Tom attended St Patrick’s School, where he sang in the choir. During the Depression, Tom became a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He then enlisted and served in the US Army Air Corps, during World War II.


After the War, Tom lived in Orange, NJ for before moving to East Hanover, where he worked for many years at Central and Frank J. Smith grammar schools, as well as the East Hanover Post Office until his retirement in 1982. He was a past member of the East Hanover American Legion and most recently, the Hanover Township Seniors Center, as well as the Adoration Committee at Notre Dame of Mt Carmel Church in Cedar Knolls. Tom also enjoyed collecting coins and stamps.


Thomas was a widower and is survived by his daughter Frances De Feo Sodano and her husband Joel; son Tommy De Feo and his wife Regina; grandchildren Joel Philip, Matthew Thomas, Joseph Rosario and great-grandson Luca Sodano. He is survived also by his sister Rose and brothers Jerry, Nick and Ugo.
