Thomas P. Murphy, 90, of Whippany, NJ, passed peacefully on February 8, 2020. Born and raised in Girardville, Pa., Thomas has lived in Whippany, NJ since 1971. He served proudly in Korea and received a Purple Heart. A graduate of Villanova University, Thomas spent his career in the finance/banking industry and retired from Bank of New York in 1992. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church. He enjoyed golf and fishing, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Thomas is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Murphy, (nee Gawronski), his children, Maureen Luger and her husband Michael, Paul Murphy and his wife Carolyn, grandchildren Conor, Michael, Kate & Taylor. He is pre-deceased by his son Patrick Murphy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. Entombment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visiting hours, Tuesday, 6 pm to 8 pm at the Bradley Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd. Whippany.
