Thomas W. Browne, 78, of Chatham, New Jersey, passed on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ.
Born in Madison, New Jersey, Tom was the son of the late William and Alice Browne. After serving in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1961 he graduated with honors from Newark College of Engineering. He worked for many years as a mechanical engineer for Sandoz (now Novartis) in East Hanover, NJ.
Tom’s whole life was about his family, friends, sports and DIY. He and his wife Carol are longtime members of the Minisink Club and have both enjoyed the racquet sports there.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Carol, of 57 years. He is also survived by daughters, Karen Reynolds (Scott) of Johns Creek, GA, Susan Browne of Three Bridges, NJ sons, Robert Browne (Deborah) of Basking Ridge, NJ and William Browne of Chatham, NJ. He was the cherished grandfather to Meghan, Melissa, Brett, Madeline, Caroline, Jack, Ashley and Catherine and great-grandfather to Kathryn and Hailie. Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Browne of Madison, NJ. He is survived by a sister, Alice Gromisch of Cold Spring Harbor, NY.
A memorial visitation will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Chatham, NJ 07928. A memorial service will follow at noon in the funeral home.
