Valentins Konopasevics, 94, of Kinnelon, New Jersey passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at his daughter’s home.

Valentins was born on July 3, 1923 in Bulgaria and as a young child moved to Latvia where he lived with close family. He was the son of the late Mr. Sergei Konopasevics.

He emigrated to the United States in 1949, sponsored by a Philadelphia soccer club.

Valentins was an accomplished pianist and renowned forward soccer player, playing the wing position. He played soccer for many teams, including Stuttgart Germany and in the US with Ukrainian, Hungarian, and German teams.

Valentins was predeceased by his wife, Maria Konopasevics. He is survived by his children; Margaret Nycz and husband Lew and Eugene Konopasevics and wife Maryanne. He was the cherished grandfather of Larissa, Melanie, Gregory and Stefan and great-grandfather of Kalyna and Damian.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 28, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Parastas at 8:00 p.m. at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Road, Whippany, NJ 07981.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 60 North Jefferson Rd, Whippany, NJ.

Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, South Bound Brook, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in his name to “Vovcha Tropa PLAST Camp.”
