Vincenzo Vaticano, 91, of Union, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 13, 1925 in Varapodio, R.C., Italy. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore and Concetta (nee Coppola) Vaticano.
Vinnie emigrated from Italy to Australia and immigrated to the United States in 1960. He worked as a custodial engineer in Union High School for over 35 years and owned a pizzeria for 15 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Angela C. Vaticano. He was the loving father of daughters; Concetta Vargo and son-in-law, Robert, Tina Williams and son-in-law, John and Lina Vaticano-Sicoli and son-in-law, Anthony. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union, NJ 07083. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. Michael’s Church, 1212 Kelly St., Union, NJ 07083. Entombment will follow at St. Teresa’s Cemetery, Summit, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Vincenzo Vaticano’s name to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
