Vivian Nell Sebastian, 90, died peacefully in her sleep on January 15, 2021, in Chatham, NJ. Born in Nashville, TN, she spent most of her life in Scotch Plains and Basking Ridge, NJ. Besides the accomplishment of raising five children whom she was very proud of, Vivian loved working and enjoyed her career as a legal secretary at Shanley & Fisher, P.C. followed by Pitney, Hardin, Kipp & Szuch.
Family time was spent engaged in lively conversations on topics of the day, she liked playing Mahjong with small ante money with her friends, and other hobbies were reading and walking. She will be profoundly missed.
Vivian is predeceased by her father, Charles Ray Burgess, and mother Lottie Burgess, brothers Charles and Neil, sisters Mavis Jean Whitaker, Marilyn Greek, and Bonnie Perry. Surviving are her loving children Mark (Betsy) Sebastian, Vernon Hills, Ill; David (Carolyn) Sebastian, Summit, NJ; Susan (George) Hanlon, Tampa, FL; Sheryl (Michael) Carr, Wendell, NC; and Sandra Sebastian, High Bridge, NJ. Grandchildren include Allison Sebastian and Justin Jordan (Maya); Ryan, Dylan and Tyler Sebastian; Corinne Volpe and Jared Hanlon; Erin and Spencer Carr; and great grandchild June Jordan. Heartfelt thanks and gratitude for her care go to Chatham Hills Subacute Center.
