Vladimir Chestnoy, 89, of Union, NJ, passed away on March 22, 2023. A funeral mass will be held at Novo-Diveevo Russian Orthodox Convent, 100 Smith Rd, Nanuet, NY on Monday, March 27th at 11:00am. Burial will follow at the Church Cemetery.
Born in Leningrad, Russia, the son of Ivan and Anna (Noskova) Chestnoy, Vladimir was raised in Moscow. He received his degree from the Moscow Institute of International Relations where he specialized in foreign languages and worked as a translator at home and abroad. He came to the United States in 1978, first settling in Jersey City and later moving to Union.
Vladimir was the beloved husband of 63 years to Tamara. He was the loving father of Veronica Chestnoy-Tayor and her husband Anthony and Natalia Carey and her husband Paul. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Philip and Elizabeth Carey.
