Walter A. Hagelgans

~~Walter A. Hagelgans, 87, of Whippany, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014. Born and raised in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, Walter lived in Hanover Twp. for 58 years. A veteran of the US Navy, he served during the Korean War. He was a tool & die maker, whose dedication to the trade led him to work for 45 years for the same location, even though the company changed hands over the years. Walter retired at the age of 85 from Biomet in Parsippany. He was a proud member of the Navy Cruisers Association. He was very active in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Morris Plains, and most recently volunteered at the Interfaith Food Pantry. Walter loved spending time outdoors working in the yard and travelling to the Navy Cruisers Association annual reunions.

Predeceased by his wife Betty, and son Glenn; Walter is survived by sons Robert, of Long Branch, and Mark, of East Hanover; grandchildren Matthew, Christopher and Alexis; and his beloved companion of many years, Nancy Ayala.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 131 Mountain Way, Morris Plains on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 4:00 pm.
