Wilbur J. Moyer, 93, lived in Union all his life passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 at ManorCare, Mountainside, NJ.

Life member of Union Elks, #1583, Past District Deputy, Past Special Children’s Committee Member, Life member of Knights of Columbus 4504 and V.F.W. Post 2433. Wilbur was involved in starting the Union Rams Football, a coach of Union Little League, Past President of the Hamilton Civic Association. He was involved in Township Flag Committee, member of Local 825 Operating Engineer for 53 years. He was retired from Sports Authority as lead engineer for local 825. Bill was a 1939 graduate of Union High School, Union, NJ.

Bill was an avid gardener who enjoyed giving all his fruits away. He was a Yankee and Giant lover. Bill was a World War II veteran and served with the 593rd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment. He participated in New Guinea Campaign, Phippine Island and Japan Decorated with Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with 2 battle stars and Philippine Liberation Ribbon.

Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret Perger Moyer, son, Timothy, his wife Debra, grandchildren, Daniel of Arizona and Bryan of Union.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union, NJ 07083. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Church, 767 Prospect St., Maplewood, NJ 07040. An interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ. In Bill’s memory, donations can be directed to New Jersey Elks Special Children’s Committee P.O. Box 1596, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
