William Carmichael Moodie, Jr., 92, of Basking Ridge, NJ, formerly of Berkeley Heights, NJ, passed peacefully on April 26, 2017. Born in Elizabeth, raised in Montclair and Glen Ridge, William “Bill” lived in Berkeley Heights for 52 years, before moving to Basking Ridge, 4 years ago. Bill served proudly in the US Navy during WW II, from 1943 to 1946, where he received the Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal 2 Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon 1 Star. He worked at Calculagraph Co. and Control Products, Inc. as a Design Engineer and became President and Chairman during his over 60 year career. He is a 1950 graduate of Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He loved collecting and repairing antique clocks, he enjoyed summers at Long Beach Island, sailing, boating, astronomy and especially his family.

Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ellen Moodie (nee Gessler), father of Gail Anne Moodie and her husband Peter Tortorello, Wayne & Pat Moodie, Cliff & Valerie Moodie, grandfather of Billy, John, Abigail, Jessica, Rebecca, Justin & Andrew, great-grandfather of John, Andrew, Teddy, Gwen, Jessica, Kathrynn and Ashlynn and his sister Isabel Hansen. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 10 am at the Chatham Township Presbyterian Church, 240 Southern Blvd. Chatham Township. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017, from 4 to 7 pm at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7 Ridgedale Ave., Suite 103, Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927.
