Veronica Ertle

Veronica Ertle, 88, of Jersey City (most recently Summit) passed away at the King James Care Center in Chatham on August 25th. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Ave, Summit on Thursday, August 29th at 10:45am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St, Chatham on Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30pm.

Born and raised in New York City, Veronica had lived in Jersey City for many years before moving to Summit in 2002. Prior to her marriage in 1950, Veronica had worked for Tiffany’s in New York City. She later worked for the Alpha Metal Company and the Metal Improvement Company, both in Jersey City, and Royal Insurance in New York City. Veronica was a parishioner at both Our Lady of Victory in Jersey City and St. Teresa’s in Summit. She enjoyed spending time at the Adult Day Center at Victoria Gardens in Chatham. Veronica loved playing tennis, especially at Lincoln Park in Jersey City and Bayonne Park in Bayonne. She was also an avid table tennis player and had won medals in both sports at the New Jersey Senior Olympics.

Veronica was the beloved wife of 52 years to the late George H. Ertle. She was the loving mother of Christine Ertle, Kathleen Ertle, Maureen Bizub and the late John Ertle. She is also survived by her cherished granddaughter Claudia Bizub.
