Dorinda “Dee” Thompson

Dorinda "Dee" Thompson
01/25/1943 - 07/18/2020

Dorinda “Dee” Thompson, of Randolph, formerly of Whippany and Normandy Beach, passed away on July 18, 2020.  She was 77.

Born in Greensburg, PA to the late Thelma and William Reynolds, Dee attended business school in Pittsburgh after graduating high school.  Dee and her husband Neal were transferred to several cities on the east coast during his time in the Army as well as his early years with Exxon.  They eventually settled in Whippany in the mid 70’s.

Dee worked for Tri-County Orthopedics in Morristown for over 20 years as a medical billing specialist, retiring in 2002.  After her and Neal’s retirement, they moved to Normandy Beach.

Dee was a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity as well as long-time volunteer with hospice.  She supported Deborah Hospital and was a member of Red Hats Society.

Above all else, Dee loved her family fiercely, as her 3 grandchildren were the loves of her life and much of the joy in her life revolved around them.  Whether it was the annual pool parties in Whippany, crocheting blankets, making needle point Christmas stockings for the entire family (including members yet to come!), they were her highest priorities.  The holidays were always a high point of the year, with her annual Christmas cookie bake and just spending time with family.  She enjoyed traveling- Grand Cayman, Mexico, Hilton Head and the Caribbean.  She and Neal always seemed to return with a new timeshare property and new friends.  A close second to her family, was her love of chocolate.  She was a connoisseur of any and all things sweet, creamy and chocolaty.

Dee was the beloved wife of the late Neal Thompson.  She was the loving mother of Scott Thompson and his wife Eileen of Whippany and Chris Thompson and his wife Stacey of Randolph.  She was the proud and devoted grandmother of Matt Thompson and his fiancée, Lauren Malino of Whippany; Patrick Thompson of Whippany and Haley Thompson of Randolph.
