Fred was born at Morristown Medical Center on February 14, 1968 to Maximilian and Beverly (Prill) Sporer. Fred was raised in Morristown, NJ; Athens, Greece; and London, England. He graduated from the Kent School in 1986. He received his bachelor’s degree in History from Princeton University in 1991 and his MBA from University of Texas at Austin in 1995. After graduating from Princeton, Fred worked at Credit Suisse First Boston where he met his wife, Sang. After receiving his MBA, he joined MetLife in Glen Ellyn, IL. Fred continued his tenure at MetLife in Hong Kong and finally in Morristown where he lived and worked since 2003. At the time of his death, Fred was a Director in the Private Securities Unit of MetLife.

Fred was an avid historian and loved travel. He spent many nights and weekend afternoons watching history documentaries, the travel channel, and classic movies. Fred loved home improvement and was often gathering materials and equipment at Home Depot and Lowe’s for his many house and yard projects. Having grown up around the world, Fred also loved foreign cuisine and spent much of his time learning how to recreate many of his favorite dishes for himself and his family.

Fred was a beloved husband of 25 years to his wife Sang and a loving father to his sons Max and Tommy. He is also survived by his sisters, Christie Chaconas (Aris) and Libby Moffitt (Doug); father-in-law Bong Jin Choe; brothers-in-laws, Jason Choe (Soon-Young), Sam Choe (Ki-Hyun), and Chris Choe (Jane); nieces and nephews, Jack Moffitt (fiancé Allison), Bobby Moffitt (Nell), Lizzy Chaconas, Pete Chaconas, and David Moffitt; on his wife’s side, Daniel Choe (fiancé Olivia), Ellen Choe (fiancé Gabe), Monica Choe, Timothy Choe, Grace Choe, and Andy Choe; as well as cousins, friends, colleagues, and his two Labrador retrievers Ellie and JimBob.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Morristown Education Foundation, in hopes of creating a scholarship for students of the Morris School District who want to further their education but do not have the financial resources to do so.
