Bette C. Handley (Elizabeth C. Handley), 91, of Summit, died Sunday, February 12, 2012. She was born June 7, 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (nee Rygiel) Zolkowski, and was raised in Summit.
One of six children, she was predeceased by her sisters, Stella Smith, Grace Day, Mae Huntoon, and Dorothy Brousseau, and by her brother, John Zolkowski.
After she graduated from Summit High School in 1939, she attended secretarial business school. She later worked for Celanese Research Corporation until her retirement in 1982. She married Chester Handley in 2000 and they resided in Morristown. After Chester’s death in 2003, Bette moved back to Summit.
Mrs. Handley is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and will be greatly and lovingly missed by her family and friends.
