Bjarne Jenshoej
10/01/1943 - 03/09/2024

Bjarne Jenshoej, aka BJ, of New Providence, NJ, passed away on March 9, 2024, at the age of 80. A funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 524 South St. in New Providence on Saturday, March 16th at 11:00 am. Visitation at the church will be held from 10 to 11 am, preceding the service. Following the service, a repast will be hosted in Fellowship Hall within the church premises. Cremation will be held privately.  For those who aren’t able to attend, the service will be LIVE streamed at famfaith.org.

Born in Aarhus, Denmark, the son of Peter Arne Ernst and Anna Margrethe Jenshøj, Bjarne was always driven to explore and travel. His early days working at a local grocery store as an apprentice ended up being the beginning of a journey that ended with starting a family in 1975 in New Providence. Before settling down in NJ, Bjarne had the opportunity to live and work in Germany, England, Spain and we can’t forget the Canary Islands while being employed by Plumrose. In 1970, Plumrose relocated Bjarne to Atlanta, GA for what should have been a 1-year work opportunity. That 1 year turned into 3 years, and ultimately a move to New Jersey and the start of his 25 years at Majesty. What he didn’t expect was a blind date in July 1974 would be the beginning of a new chapter in his life, when he met Karen.

Bjarne was a long-time member of Lodge Linne #429, Vasa Order of America. In his younger years, he took great pleasure in coaching soccer for the New Providence Soccer Club. For decades, Saturdays were synonymous with playing tennis with the Danes, a passion he embraced wholeheartedly. In retirement, he discovered a newfound joy in painting.

Bjarne was the beloved husband of 48 years to Karen.  He was the loving father of Robert Jenshoej and his wife Jenifer, and Kirsten Clerx and her husband Rob.  He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Gabrielle and Samantha Jenshoej, and Kayden and Oliver Clerx, and his dear sister, Lisbeth Jenshøj (Wigmar), and his nieces and nephews in Denmark, England and Spain. His brother, Aage Jenshøj (the late Jytte), predeceased him.
