~~Longtime resident Staten Island, New York. Jean Boyd “Bob” Mims went to be with the Lord June 30, 2016.
Born in Marthaville, Louisiana Oct 19, 1920, he was one of 6 siblings. He moved to Staten Island while serving with the U.S. Navy during WW II and would make Staten Island his home. He met and married Doris Larsen and raised three girls. He also served in the Korean War (1952-1953). Mr. Mims was the founder of Bob Mims Roofing & Sheet Metal and later Bob Mims Heating & Air Conditioning of Staten Island. He was a faithful member and Deacon of First Baptist Church and later, Salem Evangelical Free Church. For many years he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church to New Vernon, New Jersey. Active member Salvation Army. He will especially be remembered for his strong faith and deep love of family. Mr. Mims was preceded in death by his wife Doris & son-in-law Carmine Petti. Mr. Mims is survived by his three daughters: Robin Mims Mindnich & husband Peter, Grace Mims Petti Zwillman & husband Evan, and Linda Mims O’Connor & husband Robert; 5 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed. Visitation to be held Friday, 8 July from 5-8 pm, William A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Chatham, New Jersey. Funeral and interment, Saturday 9 July at 10am, First Presbyterian Church, 2 Lee’s Hill Rd., New Vernon, New Jersey.
