Carmella Ann Lopata

Carmella Ann Lopata, (nee Nodoro), 93, of Whippany, NJ passed peacefully on November 29, 2023. Born in Morristown, NJ. Carmella was raised in Morristown and Morris Plains. She was a 1948 graduate of Morristown High School. She moved to Whippany in 1962 when she married her husband Bill. Mel was employed with Bell Laboratories in Whippany for 43 years, retiring in 1990. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church, a member of the American Legion Post #155 Auxiliary and Polish American Club both of Whippany. Mel loved the New York Mets and trips to Atlantic City. Carmella was pre-deceased by her parents, Andrew and Gertrude Mainiero Nodoro, her husband of 53 years, William, and her sister Betty DeFilippis as well as Bill’s brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Lopata, her son William J. Jr. and his wife Catherine, her brother Phil Nodoro, grandchildren, Elise Nagel (Tyler), Olivia Bennett (Nicholas), William J. III and her great-granddaughter, Lucy Nagel. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 11 am at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, Whippany, NJ. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery.
